Mr. Ahmed Naseem has been serving the Government of Maldives since 1967, in
different portfolios. Prior to his
appointment as the Minister of Health on 25th
October 2020, he served as a Minister at the President’s Office from 18th
November 2018, with the mandate to oversee issues pertaining to the Greater
Malé Area and Malé City Council.
Minister Ahmed Naseem has more than five decades of professional
experience in areas including Foreign Service, Fisheries, Tourism, Trade and Human
Rights Advocacy. During his time in the Maldivian Foreign Services, he
represented Maldives in high-level discussions towards establishing peace in
the Middle east. Additionally, he signed an MOU on behalf of the Maldives to support
Palestine in establishing the Palestinian State. He is also the first and only
Maldivian senior official to meet with the President of Palestine, Mehmood
Abbas, during the year 2011.
Minister Naseem has completed postgraduate studies in Foreign
Services, Conflict Resolution and Arbitration, and on Industrialization. In addition
to Dhivehi, he can speak and understand several languages such as Urdu,
Sinhalese, German and Italian.
