Assalam Alaikum and Let me extend a warm welcome to you all.
Advancements in healthcare directly lead to the betterment of people’s lives. Any contribution to the development of healthcare paves the way for a healthier and more prosperous society.
Today, I stand before you both humbled and grateful to be part of this significant event.
This occasion marks a monumental milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services across the Maldives.
It is a transformative step towards delivery of health services, specifically emergency medical services.
I am pleased to acknowledge this pivotal moment in our journey to enhance healthcare accessibility.
This achievement ensures that individuals receive the necessary care during their most vulnerable moments—when they are gravely ill and require advanced medical attention that may not be available on their specific island or at their local facility.
This progress underscores our commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services to all, regardless of their location.
As we are all aware, the unique geographical nature of the Maldives necessitates innovative approaches to ensure equitable healthcare delivery.
We all know that our country faces significant challenges in providing timely and effective medical care to its residents.
The dispersed population and the vast distances between islands make it crucial to have the necessary medical equipment and infrastructure to attend to critical patients swiftly and safely across the country.
Today, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Ooredoo for partnering with the Government to deliver this vital service.
Under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Muizz, the air ambulance services were inaugurated on March 1st of this year.
Since their inception, these services have managed 540 patient cases, including 437 air ambulance transfers, showcasing a significant enhancement in the speed and efficiency of medical responses.
This initiative by the president Dr Muizz represents a significant step forward in our efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality healthcare for all Maldivians.
It represents a lifeline, ensuring that advanced emergency and critical care are within reach for everyone, regardless of their location or the time of the emergency.
The contributions gained through partnership with Ooredoo will help bridge the gap in healthcare services, ensuring that even the most remote islands have access to the medical care they need.
Let me assure you that we are continuously working behind the scenes to enhance the quality of our air ambulance services.
Our team is dedicated to not only improving the immediate care we provide during air transport but also to learning from each experience.
These insights help us refine and optimize the services offered at peripheral institutions, ensuring that every aspect of our healthcare delivery is as efficient and effective as possible.
I would like to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to Island Aviation for their pivotal role in bringing this project to fruition.
Your unwavering dedication and aviation expertise have been essential in establishing and maintaining these critical services.
Moreover, Island Aviation’s collaboration with the Ministry of Health the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) and the Asanda healthcare insurance scheme have been vital in making these services accessible and affordable.
