Today Officially launched the Maldives Digital Health Blueprint 2026–2030, marking a significant milestone in the country's efforts to strengthen and modernize the health sector through digital transformation.
Developed with technical and financial support from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Government of Japan through the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific (JFPR), the Blueprint aligns with the Government's Maldives 2.0 Digital First Nation initiative and provides a strategic roadmap for the digital transformation of healthcare services in the Maldives.
The Blueprint sets out the national vision and strategic direction for the digital transformation of health services in the Maldives. It outlines the governance structures, standards, digital capabilities, and foundational investments required to build a connected, secure, and people-centered digital health ecosystem.
Speaking at the launch, Honorable Minister of Health, Family & Welfare, Ms. Geela Ali, emphasized the importance of digital transformation in strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring that all citizens can benefit from more accessible, integrated, and responsive health services.
The Ministry also highlighted that the immediate focus following the launch will be on implementing priority actions identified for the first 12 to 18 months, including strengthening digital health governance, advancing interoperability initiatives, building workforce capacity, and establishing the foundations required for future digital health investments and programs.
The Blueprint serves as a roadmap to improve healthcare access across dispersed island communities, empower patients to manage their well-being and build a more resilient and connect health system through the digitalization of the health sector.
