CSC appoints new Director General of Health Services to Ministry of Health

Civil Service Commission (CSC) appointed Dr. Ashraf as the Director General of Health Services of the Ministry of Health, Maldives on 9th January 2022.
Dr. Ahmed Ashraf, MD (Internal Medicine) is a graduate of Crimea State Medical University, Simferopol, Ukraine. He trained in Internal Medicine at the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Dr. Ashraf is an accomplished leader with 14 years of experience in the health sector, he has worked at the main public tertiary hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) as a consultant in Internal. He was also actively involved in teaching medical students of the Maldives National University and other students of medical internship program.
He began to serve the government administratively at IGMH starting from 1996. After graduating from medical school, he worked in number of hospitals and health centers both centrally and in the peripheral settings under Ministry of Health. He was appointed as a member of the board of directors of the Northern Health Services Corporation Ltd in 2010 and held office as the head of institute at Hulhumale Hospital, where he established the ICU, oral and maxillofacial surgery and ophthalmology services during his tenure. Additionally, he participated in several important health related seminars and conferences such as infection prevention, healthy aging, health governance and occupational health and safety. Furthermore, in addition to his work at the government, he also has a special interest in conducting free outreach medical camps to provide specialist medical consultation for the people in the islands.
