The People's Majlis approved the appointment of Geela Ali as the Minister of MOHFW

The People's Majlis today approved the appointment of Geela Ali as the Minister of Health, Family and Welfare.

During today’s sitting of the Majlis, the results of the vote taken to decide whether to approve Geela Ali were as follows:

Geela Ali received majority support from the Majlis after a parliamentary committee reviewed the educational qualifications and experience of individuals appointed to ministerial positions, and recommended her for the role based on its assessment.

Geela Ali is a professional with many years of service in the health sector and has also held senior leadership positions in that field.

With this vote, efforts to strengthen the Maldives’ health and social sectors are expected to move forward under Minister Geela Ali’s leadership.
