A
two-day Medical Camp was inaugurated at Faafu Atoll Hospital in F. Nilandhoo on
22 December 2025, organized by the High Commission of Sri Lanka to the Maldives
in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
The
camp brings together visiting medical specialists in cardiology, psychiatry,
dermatology, and surgical specialties, providing much-needed specialized
healthcare services to residents of Faafu Atoll and nearby islands, while
reducing the need for overseas or inter-atoll travel for treatment.
The
opening ceremony was attended by State Minister of Health Aminath Shirna;
Honorable Fathimath Saudha, Member of Parliament for the Nilandhoo
Constituency; His Excellency Mohamed Rizvi Hassen, High Commissioner of Sri
Lanka to the Maldives; members of the Faafu Atoll Council and Nilandhoo Island
Council; officials from the Ministry of Health; and management and staff of
Faafu Atoll Hospital.
The
Ministry of Health expressed its appreciation to the Government and people of
Sri Lanka for their continued support and partnership, highlighting the Medical
Camp as a strong example of regional cooperation that delivers tangible
benefits to communities.
