Health-related High-Level
Meetings at the 78th Session of United Nations General Assembly has
begun today in New York, United States of America. Aforementioned high-level
meetings will be held from 20-22 September 2023, at UN Head Quarters. Many
important decisions regarding global health would be taken during this meeting.
The Maldivian delegation to
the health-related High-Level Meetings at the 78th Session of United
Nations General Assembly is led by Minister of Health Order of the Dignified
Rule of the Muleege Dynasty Ahmed Naseem, accompanied by the Minister of State,
Ahmed Khaleel from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and high-level staff of the
Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment,
Climate Change and Technology and Permanent Mission of Maldives to the United
Nations Office at New York.
Head of delegation from Ministry of Health is
scheduled to deliver the official statements at the plenaries of the health-related
High-Level Meetings at the 78th Session of United Nations General
Assembly on behalf of Maldives. The topics for the high-level meetings are
“Elimination of Tuberculosis”, “Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and
Response”, and “Universal Health Coverage”.
Additionally, delegation from
Ministry of Health will be participating in health-related side events
organized by different countries. In this regard, our delegation from Ministry
of Health will deliver statements at the “combined disease elimination” side
event hosted by South East Asia Regional Office, and at the “ending AIDS”
related side event hosted by UNAIDS.
