A 'Letter of Exchange' has been
signed under a grant for the laboratory equipment to 17 islands in the Maldives
with the assistance of the Chinese government.
Ambassador of China to the Maldives Her
Excellency Wang Lixin signed the letter of exchange on behalf of the Chinese
government at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health today. Minister of
Health His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Khaleel signed the agreement on behalf of the
Ministry of Health.
A total of 72 islands will
receive laboratory equipment with the help of the Chinese government and under
the letter of exchange signed today, 17 health centres in the country will
receive laboratory equipment.
Those 17 health facilities are,
N. Fohdhoo, GDh. Hoadehdhoo, HA Muraidhoo, HA. Marandhoo, B. Goidhoo, B.
Dhonfanu, B. Kihaadhoo, Th. Dhiyamigili, GA. Mamendhoo, GA. Nilandhoo, Sh.
Noomara, Lh. Olhuvelifushi, ADh. Hanyaameedhoo, V. Keyodhoo, K. Gaafaru, N.
Maalheendhoo, and AA. Malhos Health Centre.
The procurement of laboratory
equipment through the “Letter of Exchange” signed today will provide the
necessary equipment to fill the gap in provision of health services in rural
islands. This will enhance healthcare services and expediate treatment by
enabling easier access to laboratory tests for appropriate medical attention.
