77th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia Region has commemnced
77th session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia Region has begun today in New Delhi, India. Health Ministers and Senior officials from all 11 Member States of the Region will attend this meeting which is the highest policy making governing body meeting of WHO for this region.
A high level delegation from Maldives led by Minister of State for Health Ms. Khadeeja Abdul Samad Abdulla, will be attending this meeting, which will be taking place from 07th October to 09th October 2024.
The meeting will be attended by the Regional Director for South-East Asia Region and other high level officials from the WHO Headquarters, Regional Office and the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India. In addtion, officials from partner organizations and Civil Society will also be attending this meeting.
Ministerial Roundtable will be held on Tuesday, 08 October 2024 and the topic for this years Ministerial roundtable meeting is on “an adolescent – responsive health system ”. The discussions will include services provided to strengthen the adolescent health system in the region. Following these deliberations, the Health Ministers will sign “Ministerial Declaration on adolescent – responsive health systems” to overcome the challenges and work further on adolescent health system.  
Additionally, important areas such as expanding the scope of the South-East Asia Regional Health Emergency Fund, governance matters related to progress of work of the South-East Asia Regional Office new building, Management performance and transformation in the South-East Asia Region, WHO budgetery reports and implementation of work plans will be discussed.
On the sidelines of the Regional Committee Meeting, Maldivian delegation will be meeting with high level officials from other countries to discuss bilateral cooperations on strengthening the health workforce and other collaborative areas.
