MOH has started a specialized first responders training targeted for taxi drivers under the governments first 100 days pledges. The training programme consists of emergency care, ambulatory care, and other essential care. The training has component specifically targeted for road accident related incidents.
The training programme was inaugurated by Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen- In his address, he mentioned the importance of saving another human life also to save human life on the road and to give first response a taxi drivers role is prerequisite. And Minister noted that to keep the roads safe the role of taxi centers and taxi drivers has a key national-level role to play.
In the Male’ area 1200 first respond and basic first aid will be taught under this programme, apart from road accidents other injury-related will be part of the programme.
Training programme also consists of a component from Maldives police services to further train and aware the road safety rules and regulation.
