The government has begun the work of upgrading Kulhudufushi regional Hospital into a tertiary hospital.
As part of the upgrading project of the hospital, the government has contracted Noorul islam international private limited to develop Kulhudhufushi regional hospital to a tertiary level hospital, to provide better health care to the people of the atoll and the region.

As part of the upgrading project the government has appointed experience medical officer as the acting CEO and a director of nursing to the hospital to bring systematic efforts to address the issues in the health facility.
