A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the government of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia to assist and improve the Health Sector of both countries. The MOU was signed at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on 20th December 2017. Minister of Health of Maldives, Honorable Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim signed the MOU on behalf of the Government of Maldives and Minister of Health of Malaysia, H.E. Datuk Seri Subramaniam K V Sathasivam, signed on behalf of the Government of Malaysia.
This MOU includes collaboration in the areas of human resource development and training, medical devices, pharmaceutical and traditional medicine, support to health delivery system including primary health care, establishing health information technologies and other areas of common interest.
Ministry of Health is also currently in discussions with Malaysian Educational institutes on capacity building on health human resource for health. This MOU and such collaborations will be beneficial in facilitating opportunities for further trainings leading to further developments in the Health Sector.
