6th Session of the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers organized by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and hosted by the Ministry of Health, Saudi Arabia has commenced today. This conference is being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and will continue from 5th to 7th December 2017. High level delegates from all Member States of OIC are invited to this conference which takes place every 2 years.
The theme for the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers this year is “Health in All Policies”. Minister of Health honorable Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim will address the Conference on this topic highlighting the health policies in Maldives, the achievements and challenges faced in the health sector of Maldives.
The Conference will discuss the OIC Strategic Health Plan of Action: 2014-2023, the promotion of cooperation between the Member States in the area of health, promoting healthy lifestyle, prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases and response to health emergencies and disaster situations. The Ministers will also deliberate on the issues related to mother and child health and nutrition, as well as the health conditions in occupied Palestine, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan.
Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim will also hold bilateral discussions with his counterparts of Saudi Arabia and UAE.
Delegation from the Ministry of Health, Maldives led by the Minister departed from Male’ for the conference on 4th December 2017.
